Electric VEHICLES THE NEXT STEPS
The Automotive industry is taking solid steps to be a green alternative to cut emissions
This week I read incredible news. Mercedes new EQXX has crossed the 1000km autonomy in a single charge. This type of autonomy is a game changer to equalize more and more the EV (electric vehicles) technology with petrol engines. Of course, this is still not widely adopted but gives a hint that Electrical cars are here to stay. Also, quite impressing Carlo´s Sainz Audi´s RSQ e-tron electric car wining Dakar offroad stages.
The influence of Formula One and Dakar competitions are showing that EV and climate friendly technologies can be cool too. Some of the breakthrough technological evolutions coming to commercial cars in improving weight, efficiency and cost are coming from the top automotive competitions. One of the key trends is to increase the density of the battery to allow to lightweight and probably reduce the production costs. Also, other areas of EV cars are being improve thanks to incentives to compete at a top level, like power trains, solar roof panels and the inverter.
A long way from the boring first electric models that initially came to the market (not to mention names and ugly models 😊).
In a similar trend, also read this week that SONY has created a vehicle company to pilot their exposure to electric vehicles. The fact that nontraditional manufacturers are entering the market is just exciting. This implies automotive and technology are merging more and more into a new evolved market where OEMs might not be the only winners.
Maybe the sound quality of SONY cars will take us the next level recovering the old-time supreme quality?… will see.
In my opinion, the EVs are good news but we need other technologies to compete and create alternatives that allows an efficient development of the market. Infrastructure will also play an important role and there will be a phase-out transition on the electricity production from fossil fuels that will not assure emissions are fully cut in the production side. Hydrogen and biofuels (for shipping and aviation for example) should also have a say in the transportation market.
Cost and pricing of these technologies are the pending matter… EVs or other green transport technologies should not be accessible only to the rich countries. Currently, only 1% of total cars sales are EVs outside (EU, US and China). So, a lot to do in this front.
In any case, the trend seems unstoppable and is great news for the Planet…

Nevertheless there is 1 issue I am not too cozy with and while I try to reconcile that with the actual main idea of the issue, permit me observe just what the rest of your subscribers have to point out.Well done.
